Deal Terms

  • Get a 30% transfer bonus when you convert Capital One miles to Virgin Red or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.
  • Capital One typically transfers at a 1:1 ratio to Virgin Atlantic. With the 30% bonus, the transfer ratio becomes 1:1.3. So 1,000 points become 1,300 miles
  • Expires November 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Other Considerations

Transfers are not always instant, so leave time for the points to land before you count on a specific seat.

Always confirm current award flight availability before transferring points. We do not recommend speculatively transferring points before confirming award space.

Booking ANA to Japan using Virgin Atlantic miles

This is the holy grail for Virgin Atlantic miles. Virgin Atlantic prices ANA flights with a fixed zone chart. First class between the U.S. and Japan costs 72,500 points one-way from the West Coast, or 85,000 from the central and eastern U.S.

With the bonus, that drops to 55,800 Capital One miles from the West Coast or 65,400 from the East Coast. That’s not bad for a seat that often sells for over $20,000. For comparison, United charges 220,000+ miles for the same flight.

ANA business class works too. It costs 52,500 points from the West Coast (40,400 Capital One miles) or 60,000 from the East Coast (46,200).

The only issue is that you cannot book ANA awards on Virgin Atlantic website. You can reference our step-by-step guide here.

Other sweet spots

Virgin’s own flights now use dynamic pricing, so costs move around. But cheap fares still show up:

  • Upper Class to London from 29,000 points (22,400 Capital One miles)
  • Economy to London from 6,000 points (4,700 Capital One miles)
  • Short Delta flights from 7,500 points (5,800 Capital One miles)
  • Air France and KLM nonstops within Europe from 4,000 points in economy

One catch on Upper Class: taxes and fees can run around $700 one-way. Compare that with the cash fare before you book.
