Capital One Debuts Rare 30% Transfer Bonus to EVA Air

By-Updated:
Capital One is offering a 30% transfer bonus to EVA Air Infinity MileageLands through July 31, 2026, which improves the standard conversion rate to 975 airline miles per 1,000 Capital One miles. This rare promotion is highly useful for accessing exclusive Royal Laurel business class award space directly through EVA Air, though members should be mindful of a strict 36-month mileage expiration policy before finalizing any non-reversible transfers.

Capital One has launched a limited-time transfer promotion for its rewards platform, offering cardholders a 30% bonus when moving miles to EVA Air Infinity MileageLands. The promotion is active through Friday, July 31, 2026, marking the first time we have seen a targeted transfer bonus between Capital One and this specific Taiwanese Star Alliance carrier.

While transfer bonuses are generally an easy way to extract outsized value from your credit card rewards, this specific promotion comes with a few mathematical and logistical wrinkles that require a closer look before you initiate a transfer.

The Transfer Ratio Mathematics

Among Capital One’s roster of travel partners, EVA Air is one of the very few programs that does not feature a standard 1:1 transfer ratio. Under normal circumstances, Capital One miles transfer to Infinity MileageLands at a 4:3 ratio, meaning 1,000 Capital One miles convert into 750 EVA Air miles.

With the active 30% promotional bonus factored in, the math changes to a more favorable rate:

  • Standard Conversion: 1,000 Capital One Miles = 750 EVA Air Miles
  • Promotional Conversion: 1,000 Capital One Miles = 975 EVA Air Miles

While a 30% boost gets the conversion rate incredibly close to a 1:1 ratio, it still falls slightly short. Transactions require a minimum transfer of 1,000 Capital One miles, with subsequent conversions allowed in increments of 100 miles. Furthermore, points transfers to EVA Air are not instantaneous, on average taking roughly 24 hours to post to your airline loyalty account.

Earning Miles With Relevant Capital One Cards

To build up the necessary balance to execute this transfer, you will need a credit card that specifically earns flexible Capital One Venture miles. The issuer provides a few core options that make earning these rewards straightforward through flat-rate everyday spending:

Annual Fee: $95

LIMITED-TIME OFFER: Earn 75,000 bonus miles + $250 to use on Capital One Travel in your first cardholder year once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening - that's equal to $1,000 in travel

Annual Fee: $0

Earn 20,000 miles once you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening

Target Premium Routes: Royal Laurel Business Class

EVA Air does not offer a traditional First Class product on its long-haul flights. Instead, the carrier's flagship premium cabin is Royal Laurel Class, a highly rated business class experience that rivals many global first class standards due to its multi-course fine dining, premium champagne service, and high-quality amenities.

EVA Air flies these premium cabins from several major North American gateways straight to its main hub at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Knowing your departure region is essential because EVA Air splits its U.S. award pricing into two distinct zones:

U.S. West Coast to Taipei

  • Eligible Routes: Nonstop flights operating out of Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), and Seattle (SEA).
  • Award Pricing: A one-way Royal Laurel Class ticket costs 75,000 EVA Air miles. Thanks to the 30% transfer bonus, you only need to transfer roughly 77,000 Capital One miles to cover the booking.

U.S. East Coast and Midwest to Taipei

  • Eligible Routes: Nonstop flights operating out of New York (JFK), Chicago (ORD), Houston (IAH), and the newly added Washington Dulles (IAD) service.
  • Award Pricing: A one-way Royal Laurel Class ticket costs 80,000 EVA Air miles. With the promotional conversion factored in, you will need to transfer roughly 82,000 Capital One miles to secure the seat.

When Does Booking Directly Through EVA Air Make Sense?

Given that the transfer ratio remains sub-1:1 even with a bonus, it is worth asking why a traveler would choose to use this promotion. The primary advantage of using EVA Air’s native Infinity MileageLands program is award seat inventory.

EVA Air operates an exceptional product, but the airline is notoriously stingy when releasing business class award seats to Star Alliance partner programs like Air Canada Aeroplan, United MileagePlus, or Avianca LifeMiles.

EVA Air saves the vast majority of its long-haul premium cabin award space for members of its own loyalty program. If your travel dates are rigid and you want to lock in a non-stop business class flight to Taipei, transferring your miles directly to EVA Air may be your only reliable option to secure a seat.

Critical Caveats to Keep in Mind

Before moving your credit card points, you must be aware of two strict program rules unique to EVA Air:

1. Hard Miles Expiration

EVA Air miles carry a strict 36-month expiration policy that triggers exactly three years after the miles land in your account. Unlike most Western frequent flyer programs, earning more miles or booking a flight will not extend the life of your existing balance. Once that 36-month clock runs out, the miles expire permanently. Capital One miles do not expire as long as your card account remains open, so transferring them speculatively without an immediate booking in mind carries substantial risk.

2. Restrictive Mileage Purchasing Rules

While EVA Air allows members to buy miles directly, the program rules state that purchased miles cannot constitute more than 50% of the total miles required to book an award ticket. This makes transfer partners essential for topping off an account if you are short on miles for a specific flight.

Alternative Earning Strategies

If you want to book an EVA Air award ticket but prefer to avoid the sub-1:1 transfer penalty from Capital One, you can look to other flexible point currencies. Citi ThankYou Rewards counts EVA Air as a permanent 1:1 transfer partner, meaning you can move points from a card like the Citi Strata Premier at a better baseline rate every day of the week.

However, if you only hold Capital One cards like the Venture X or Venture, this temporary 30% bonus provides an excellent compromise by lowering the total number of credit card miles needed to book EVA's premium cabins.
