How to Transfer Your Credit Card Points

To get the best value out of points, you’ll want to transfer them to airline and hotel partners.

What does it mean to “transfer” points?

Chase, American Express, Capital One, Citi, Bilt, etc. all offer “transferable” points that can be moved to an airline/hotel program. For example, Chase points (aka Ultimate Rewards) are accumulated within your Chase account, but can’t be used for best value travel purposes until they are transferred to United Airlines or British Airways. You could, in theory, use your Chase Points within the direct Chase travel portal to book your flights, but you are likely losing value on your points.

Instead of having to memorize which credit card point transfers to which airline or hotel, when you search for flights through Roame, we’ll automatically let you know which credit card points you can transfer to the airline partner!

Before transferring your points, always make sure to verify with the airline directly that there is availability for the award flight you're looking at (this is called phantom availability). This may require a quick call—otherwise, you risk irreversibly transferring your points.
