Airside, Haneda’s Terminal 1 has two Power Lounges, one located on the North and the other located on the South. Coincidentally, they are named Power Lounge North and Power Lounge South. This article will review my visit to the South Power Lounge, which turned out to be a disappointment.
How To Access The Power Lounge South In Haneda Airport Terminal 1
If you have a valid Priority Pass card, you can easily access the Power Lounge South free of charge. Thankfully, there are a whole bunch of popular (and good) travel cards that will give you access to this lounge:
What Are The Power Lounge South’s (Haneda Airport Terminal 1) Hours?
According to the Priority Pass website, this lounge is open from 9 am to 4 pm everyday.
Finding The Power Lounge South In Haneda Airport Terminal 1
This lounge is located on the... you guessed it... the South Wing of Haneda’s airport. You’ll really need to follow the signs towards Gate 108 because it is a bit confusing to figure out where exactly you are in this massive terminal.
Checking Into The Power Lounge South In Haneda Airport Terminal 1
When you check in and present your Priority Pass, the staff have to go through a different procedure than typical. They have to pull out their Priority Pass machine and scan you in separately. Then, you have to sign and confirm that you have no guests. The lounge is unable to verify if you owe anything or not, so you do have to take a small leap of faith there.
There’s a variety of art scatted around the check-in area.
Impressions Of The Power Lounge South In Haneda Airport Terminal 1: Ehhhh
Power Lounges are particularly interesting.
They only have free drinks and no free food. Essentially, they are just special, more exclusive seating spots. Unfortunately, they’re really lacking in anything that makes some interesting.
On theme, there’s significant seating with lots of long tables and window seating where you can see the tarmac.
There’s food for purchase, coffee machines, and sodas.
When you walk down the long rectangular hall, you’ll then encounter some more ample comfortable seating. There’s plenty of little sofas, each with their own tables.
There’s also a lot of art scattered throughout the lounge; pretty much every seat has an outlet associated with it.
There was also an area for phone calls adjacent to the bathroom, which was very clean and well maintained.
My Overall Rating Of Power Lounge South In Haneda Terminal 1: A Deserved 3/10
I rate lounges based on a few general criteria:
- Food Quality & Variety: 1/10
- Cleanliness: 9/10
- Interior Design: 3/10
- Unique Amenities: 2/10
The Power Lounges all look about the same: essentially, a glorified seating area. I wouldn’t say that there is anything incredibly unique about the lounge. But, if you come in with low expectations, this could be a great lounge for you to have a place where you can work, charge your devices, and use a clean bathroom.
