Capital One Venture X 100K Bonus Is Back (Plus 400K Business Offer)

Capital One just brought back the 100K bonus on the Venture X for the first time since 2021. And if you run a business, there's an even bigger deal waiting.
Capital One Venture X CARD

Capital One Venture X

The personal Venture X is now offering 100,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 within six months. That's worth at least $1,000 in travel, but you can squeeze more value by transferring to partners like Turkish Airlines or Air Canada Aeroplan.

Business owners can grab up to 400,000 miles with the Venture X Business. You'll earn 200,000 miles after spending $30,000 in three months, plus another 200,000 miles when you hit $150,000 in six months.

LIMITED-TIME OFFER: Earn 100,000 bonus miles once you spend $10,000 on purchases in the first 6 months from account opening - equal to $1,000 in travel

What makes these offers worth considering

The Venture X comes with a $395 annual fee, but it practically pays for itself. You get a $300 annual travel credit for bookings through Capital One Travel. Plus, you'll earn 10,000 bonus miles every year on your account anniversary (worth another $100 in travel).

Both cards earn 2X miles on everything you buy. But here's where it gets interesting: you'll earn 10X miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, and 5X miles on flights.

The lounge access alone makes the annual fee reasonable. You get into Capital One Lounges and over 1,300 Priority Pass lounges worldwide. That's valuable if you travel even a few times per year.

LIMITED-TIME OFFER! Earn 400,000 bonus miles: 200K miles when you spend $30K in the first 3 months, and an additional 200K miles when you spend $150K in the first 6 months

The spending requirements

The personal Venture X requires $10,000 in six months. That's higher than the original 100K offer from 2021, which only needed $5,000 in three months. But you get twice as long to hit the threshold.

For the business card, that $150,000 spending requirement is steep. Not every business can reach that naturally. But if you're putting large purchases on a card anyway, 400,000 miles is a serious haul.

Both cards will also earn you 2X miles on all that spending, so you're actually getting 420,000 miles total on the business card (or 120,000 on the personal card) when you factor in regular earnings.

Where to use these miles

Capital One partners with 18 airlines and hotel programs. You can transfer miles at a 1:1 ratio to programs like Air Canada Aeroplan, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, and Avianca LifeMiles.

Also,

Some sweet spots include booking Singapore Airlines Suites using Avianca miles, or flying business class to Europe on Turkish Airlines. You can also book Qatar Airways Qsuites through JetBlue.

If you prefer simplicity, just book travel through Capital One's portal and redeem miles at 1 cent each. That 100,000 bonus covers $1,000 in flights, hotels, or rental cars with no blackout dates.

Important eligibility rules (read this carefully)

Capital One updated their bonus eligibility rules across the entire Venture card family. Here's how it works:

If you're applying for the Venture X, you're only ineligible if you earned a Venture X bonus in the past 48 months. Previous bonuses on the regular Venture or VentureOne won't block you.

If you're applying for the regular Venture card, you're ineligible if you earned either a Venture X or Venture bonus in the past 48 months.

If you're applying for the VentureOne, you're ineligible if you earned a bonus on any Venture family card (Venture X, Venture, or VentureOne) in the past 48 months.

The pattern here matters. You can move up the Venture card ladder (VentureOne to Venture to Venture X), but you can't move down. Once you've earned a bonus on a higher-tier card, you're blocked from bonuses on lower-tier cards for four years.

This means if you plan to eventually get the Venture X, don't grab the VentureOne or regular Venture first. Start at the top and work your way down if you want multiple bonuses over time.

You can only get one Capital One personal credit card every six months, so timing matters for your overall card strategy.

The business card bonus operates separately from personal card eligibility. You can grab both the personal Venture X and business Venture X bonuses if you qualify for each individually.

Final thoughts

The 100K Venture X bonus is the best we've seen since the card launched in 2021. If you've been waiting for this offer to return, now's your chance.

For business owners who can meet the $150,000 spend, the 400K bonus is massive. That's enough miles for multiple international business class tickets or a round-trip first class award to Asia.

Both offers come with strong ongoing benefits that justify keeping the cards past year one. The annual travel credit and lounge access make the $395 fee easier to swallow, especially once you add in those 10,000 anniversary bonus miles.

Just make sure you can hit the spending requirements naturally. These are excellent bonuses, but only if you're not forcing spend just to earn miles.
