Emirates has introduced an updated layout for its premium airport facilities, establishing a new design standard for its global network. The airline is dedicating approximately 13.6 million dollars to each renovation project.

The updated interior design has already been completed at the Emirates Lounges in Munich and Frankfurt. Future installations are scheduled to open in Manchester, Mauritius, and Istanbul. The capital investment aims to align the airline's ground infrastructure with the visual style found inside its recently updated aircraft cabins.

Updated Aesthetics and Structural Details

The renovation incorporates several structural and decorative adjustments. The updated spaces feature modern furniture, herringbone flooring, integrated lighting panels, and trim elements made of marble and gold.

The main seating areas display a backlit motif of the Ghaf tree, which is the national tree of the United Arab Emirates. The common areas use a specialized fragrance blend consisting of bergamot, citrus, jasmine, and soft wood, alongside localized plant and floral arrangements. The traditional Rolex clocks showing international time zones have been retained on the walls.

Functional Layout and Workspaces

The floor plans are divided into separate, specialized zones intended to accommodate different types of passenger needs during a layover:

  • Working Areas: For business travelers, the lounge provides large communal work tables alongside smaller, enclosed meeting spaces. Seats in these sections feature Italian eco-leather upholstery, universal power sockets, and integrated wireless charging surfaces.
  • Resting Zones: Passengers seeking a quiet environment can use a separate section equipped with deeper seating, lower lighting levels, and complimentary amenities such as blankets and eye masks.
  • Service Facilities: The upgrades include renovated shower suites equipped with VOYA bath products. The floor plans also feature dedicated male and female prayer rooms with built-in ablution spaces, as well as private nursing rooms for families.

Food and Beverage Service Adjustments

Emirates has modified its dining service to focus heavily on live food preparation. The dining rooms feature an open-concept kitchen layout where on-site chefs prepare made-to-order dishes at interactive stations, complementing the standard hot and cold self-service buffets.

The kitchen area includes a specialized bread oven used to bake pizzas, flatbreads, and traditional manakeesh. Menus alternate regional items with dishes that highlight local ingredients from each specific airport city. For drinks, the facility provides a barista station for espresso beverages and teas, alongside a staffed bar serving cocktails, mocktails, and the airline's standard wine and champagne selection.

Lounge Entry and Eligibility Guidelines

The updated lounges are open to passengers traveling on Emirates-operated flights who meet specific ticketing or elite status requirements. Eligible guests include those flying in First Class or Business Class, as well as Emirates Skywards members holding Platinum or Gold status. Travelers flying in Economy or Premium Economy who do not hold elite status can also purchase day passes directly at the entrance, subject to space availability.
