Uh oh. Virgin Atlantic is updating (devaluing) its ANA award chart, effective tomorrow May 23, 2024. While this sounds scary at first, the devaluation is not as bad as I was originally expecting.
The New ANA Partner Award Chart

Here is the new ANA partner award chart that goes into effect tomorrow, May 23:

When comparing this against the old award chart, I would say roundtrip award pricing is increasing about 10–20% across the board for long haul international routes in business class.

The devaluation looks to be targeting the high value business class sweet spot redemption Virgin Atlantic/ANA has been known to offer.

What Is The Expected Impact?

Given the popularity of this partner award redemption, this devaluation is going to hurt no matter what. ANA business class flying East Coast USA <> Japan takes the biggest hit here for sure.

However, on that note, this devaluation is not as bad as it seems. For what it’s worth, Virgin Atlantic ANA partner redemptions are still really strong/high value. Nevertheless, this devaluation stings and reflects a general trend we’ve been seeing in 2024. Earn and burn remains the key to success.
Conclusion
Virgin Atlantic has just published an unannounced devaluation to its top tier ANA partner award bookings. While any devaluation sounds scary at first, this one is not as bad as it could be, since prices are only increasing about 10-20% across the board for international itineraries.
