While I was leaving Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), I was able to somehow miraculously visit the Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge while flying on a Star Alliance business class ticket. Here’s my review on the lounge and how I rate its food, aesthetic, and amenities.
How I Accessed This Lounge
Not going to lie, I’m not even 100% sure how I got in.
My boarding pass explicitly said we could access the Le Saigonnais Lounge. When we struggled to find it and decided to ask the Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge staff about where it was, they actually notified us that the Le Saigonnais Lounge was actually pretty busy and that we could just access this lounge.
Notably, we were flying Singapore Airlines business class, a Star Alliance carrier—not a SkyTeam carrier. The Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge serves Vietnam Airlines and eligible SkyTeam Elite members. According to the staff, this lounge and the Le Saigonnais Lounge are serviced by the same kitchen/team, so they actually have the same food. However, the lounge itself differs.
When Does The Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge Open / Close?
This lounge is open 24 hours a day, which makes it awesome for any sort of layover or wait you might have at the airport.
Where Is The Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge Located?
The lounge is not too bad to find, as there are many signs point towards it throughout the airport. It is located on the second floor of the terminal after security, across the Burger King on the same floor. Keep an eye out for the various signage.
Initial Thoughts: Spacious And Pretty With Lots Of Natural Light
The moment you walk into this lounge, you’re immediately greeted with floor to ceiling windows that let in a tremendous amount of natural light. They used a modern aesthetic beige and white to help make the lounge seem very bright and open. I was pretty impressed by what I was first greeted with here.

The windows also had some fantastic views, allowing you to easily look over the runway. Here, you could see a variety of planes at their gates or taxiing to takeoff.
The bathroom was also nice and kept in good shape. There were also several showers in this lounge that didn’t seem to require a desk attendant to help you access. From my experience, the front desk usually gives you access to use the lounge showers, but you could seemingly just waltz in here.

On a unique note, this lounge also had luggage lockers and a pet area.

The Food: Good Vietnamese Variety + Tasty
On one side of the lounge, they were serving their breakfast/lunch menus. Here, you could find hot buffet food items alongside a bakery & desserts section. The hot buffet foods were really yummy and had some good variety of Vietnamese foods.

There were a variety of yummy desserts, including tiramisu and fresh fruit (love myself some guava). You could also find freshly cut pineapple alongside other Vietnamese desserts.

On the other connecting wall, you could find various drinks, including alcohol. The bar was kind of funny to me—it was literally just an array of hard alcohols that you could self serve.

My Overall Rating Of The Vietnam Airlines Lotus Lounge: 7/10
I rate lounges based on a few general criteria:
- Food Quality & Variety: 7/10
- Cleanliness: 8/10
- Interior Design: 9/10
- Unique Amenities: 5/10
This lounge definitely exceeded expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and design of the lounge. Furthermore, the staff did a pretty good job keeping the lounge and bathrooms clean. I liked the number of unique amenities available at this lounge, including showers, luggage lockers, and even a pet area. I think I knock off a few points for the food, since while the buffet was delicious, it was no a la carte dinner.
