Hey! Welcome to Roame. This guide is intended to help first time users get a better understanding of how to use SkyView Lite (free version) and SkyView Pro (premium version).

What Is Skyview?

SkyView is the first-ever tool launched to allow you to search for award availability between any two destinations worldwide for up to 60 day windows at a time, up to 365 days in advance (up to 60 days for SkyView Lite).

If you find yourself searching manually for award availability (even on Roame) across several weeks or months at a time, then SkyView might be able to help you save a lot of time and effort down the road.

How SkyView Works

SkyView searches a preset collection of routes once per day and aggregates all possible booking options for the flight.

Example Of How SkyView Works: Domestic Flight

Say we’re looking for business class tickets from New York to San Francisco sometime in 2024 summer. This competitive route typically features lie flat seats.

SkyView enables us to quickly and easily search all possible business flight options available during that timeframe. Rather than search through each date, SkyView saves us a tremendous amount of time and effort:

Let’s take things a step further to see the full power of SkyView: what if we want to depart from any airport in California and go to any country in Asia in business class? Being able to search general regions can be an extremely powerful way to save a lot of time.

We can now see several enticing options to Asia, including some fantastic deals in business and first class on some top tier airlines. Trust us: finding these options individually would have taken hours. With SkyView, we’re able to spend quite literally less than 5 minutes to see all our results.

SkyView Pro Vs SkyView Lite

Roame offers two types of SkyView access: SkyView Lite and SkyView Pro. The differences for the most part are pretty simple:

Troubleshooting SkyView: Common Issues

Is SkyView giving you trouble? Let's try seeing if we can help you troubleshoot these problems.

SkyView Shows No Results, But Regular Live Search Does?

A common issue that comes up is when SkyView gives blank/no results for searches, while regular live search gives some results. This happens due to how SkyView works.

There are approximately 70,000+ possible airport routes worldwide; SkyView searches across just a portion of these most popular routes every day. Routes that have been set as an alert by a user are also included in the daily search. If an option that meets a user criteria is found, an alert will be sent.

Therefore, if you are finding that your routes are frequently showing poor or blank results, try the following to queue SkyView to search your route in the next 24 hrs:

  1. Enter your search criteria. Don't forget to adjust the maximum number of points you want to use
  2. Click search and see your results
  3. If SkyView Set the route and criteria as an alert
  4. Come back to Roame in about 24 hrs and view your new results

I See A Result, But It's Not On The Airlines Website!

SkyView works by doing a daily search of our prespecified and user-set alert routes. When you search on SkyView, you're going to see cached results, which are saved results accumulated from multiple days of searches. For completeness, we save results for a few days after we find them. If we can find the same route on an earlier day, then the old cached result will be overwritten and the "last seen" timer will reset.

If you can't see the result on the airline's website, it's always in your best interest to take a look at the "last seen" indicator.

Setting Alerts With SkyView

One of SkyView coolest features is the ability to set alerts and get notified whenever award availability comes up. To avoid getting flooded with alerts, it's important to keep in mind a few things about SkyView's search criterias (the biggest culprits for why some alerts get flooded):

  1. Number of Stops: Make sure to tone down this limit, or you'll receive options with many stopovers
  2. Premium Percentage: If you don't want to received mixed class fares, then pull premium % up higher than 0%
  3. Fees: If you want to avoid high surcharges, make sure to turn down the fees
  4. Points: If you don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of points on your flight, make sure to adjust this criteria

Conclusions

SkyView is an extremely powerful and innovative tool in the award search space that can help you achieve your travel dreams. With a first-in-class search capability to view all flight availabilities across hundreds of days, you can quickly and easily pinpoint the exact flight you want to take.
