Bilt Rewards has officially added Japan Airlines (JAL) Mileage Bank as its newest transfer partner, marking a significant expansion for the U.S.-based rewards program. Starting today, May 13, 2025, Bilt members can transfer points to JAL at a 1:1 ratio, with most transfers completing within ~10 minutes.

This partnership is particularly noteworthy because JAL Mileage Bank has historically been difficult for U.S. travelers to access through transferable points. Previously, the only major option was transferring Marriott Bonvoy points at a less favorable 3:1 ratio. Now, Bilt becomes JAL’s first 1:1 transfer partner in North America, providing members with streamlined access to award flights on JAL and its Oneworld partners like American Airlines, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific.

JAL’s award chart offers competitive redemption rates, such as 25,000 miles for a one-way economy ticket or 50,000 miles for business class between North America and Japan. However, these rates will increase slightly on June 10, 2025, to 27,000 and 55,000 miles respectively . Additionally, JAL allows generous stopover policies, permitting up to seven stopovers on Oneworld partner itineraries, which can enhance the value of your miles.

Typically, JAL requires Mileage Bank accounts to be at least 60 days old before redeeming miles. However, Bilt has negotiated an exception: members can redeem miles within seven days of transferring points, even if their JAL account is newer . This addition further solidifies Bilt’s position as a leading rewards program, offering unique value to members by enabling them to earn points on rent payments and redeem them for premium international travel.
