Bilt Rewards is announcing an exciting new partnership with Hilton Honors that is set to give Bilt members another valuable opportunity to redeem their points.
Starting today, May 8, 2024, Bilt Rewards members can convert their points on a one-to-one basis to Hilton Honors Points, enabling them to book stays at any of Hilton's prestigious properties across the globe.
An Exciting Transfer Offer
Bilt is kicking off this new partnership with a small bonus. Through June 8, 2024, members who enroll in Hilton Honors and transfer at least 1,000 Bilt Points will earn an additional 1,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points to help get them to their next stay even faster.
This promotional will help increase the value of your Bilt points initially, but transferring more than 1,000 may/may not be worth it as much (we will discuss this shortly).
Why This Partnership Matters
This alliance not only benefits the members of both programs but also strengthens the position of Bilt Rewards in the competitive market of rewards programs. Similar to its exclusive deal with Alaska Airlines, this partnership with Hilton Honors showcases Bilt’s commitment to delivering exceptional value to its users.
Bilt is now the only major US points credit card issuer that allows you to transfer your points to all 4 major US hotel chains: IHG, Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton. All other issuers can only do a subset of these / offer access to less popular chains like Choice or Accor.
What Do We Think Of This Partnership?
While this partnership is cool in theory, the chances of anyone actually transferring their points to Hilton is not very high. Bilt has so many more valuable transfer partners that it doesn't really make sense to use your hard-earned Bilt points on Hilton.
To give some numbers, Hilton points are typically only worth about 0.5 cents each whereas other programs' points, like Hyatt's, are worth significantly more than Hilton. Why would you redeem your Bilt points with Hilton when you can get 3-4x more value simply by transferring to a different partner?
This partnership is cool since it gives Bilt the rare title of being the only US card issuer that can transfer points to all 4 major US hotel chains, but in practice, I can't really see a lot of people using this.
Conclusion
While the idea of turning your rent into hotel stays with Bilt and Hilton Honors sounds cool on paper, it might not be the best move for everyone in real life. Hilton points aren’t exactly the heavy hitters in the loyalty points game and don’t pack the same punch as some other programs might. However, if you just need a few more Hilton points, Bilt may be a good way for you to quickly get some more without too much hassle.
