Brex Transfer Partners Guide

Brex Rewards has 8 airlines transfer partners, totaling 8.

All of these partners are also transferable from other programs, meaning they are not just solely unique to Brex themselves.

Examples Of High Value Brex Transfer Partners

Not all transfer partners are built the same. Some are generally recognized as providing better value than others. We are going to run through some good and bad partners so you can get a better sense on how to maximize the value of your points.

Air France/KLM Flying Blue

The Flying Blue rewards program from Air France/KLM has become a favorite among award travelers due to its excellent redemption value. Despite its dynamic award pricing, Flying Blue still regularly has awesome award deals.

A standout redemption is the West Coast to Paris/Amsterdam (CDG/AMS) route. Typically, this route’s roundtrip non-stop economy flights cost over $1,000 when searched on Google Flights, while flights with layovers can drop to around $600. However, with Flying Blue, this route costs just 20,000 points each way in economy class, plus approximately $250 in taxes and fees.

For non-stop flights, this translates to a point valuation of over 3 cents per point (CPP). Even when comparing with layover flights, which bring the CPP closer to 1 cent, the value remains evident. Though comparing non-stop and layover flight costs isn't ideal, it highlights the potential time and energy savings when using points versus cash.

Additionally, many card issuers offer significant transfer bonuses to Flying Blue. For instance, Chase has previously offered 25% transfer bonuses to Flying Blue, effectively reducing the cost to 16,000 points per direction. This bonus makes the award cost even more attractive, increasing the CPP.

Moreover, Air France occasionally runs monthly "promo sales," offering additional discounts of up to 25% on certain routes. This can reduce the cost of this route to just 15,000 points, and with a 25% transfer bonus, it could be as low as

12,000 points

—a fantastic deal.

Examples of Low Value Brex Transfer Partners

Since the value of transfer partners can vary widely, it’s crucial to compare your options closely to ensure you’re getting the best deal.

Aeromexico

Aeromexico, Mexico's flag carrier, is a transfer partner for major card issuers like American Express, Citi, and Capital One (Brex included). Despite this, Aeromexico point redemptions are probably among the worst ways possible to use your points.

For example, a one-way economy flight from Mexico City (MEX) to Los Angeles (LAX) costs $204.26 USD in cash. However, when booked with points, this flight requires 18,000 Aeromexico points plus $134.23 USD in taxes and fees. If using Brex points, you would need to transfer 27,000 points to get 18,000 Aeromexico points. This calculation implies that your Brex points are worth only about 0.25 cents per point when used for an Aeromexico award redemption—a poor value compared to JetBlue and Delta, where you can get around 1.2-1.4 cents per point.

Although Aeromexico offers an around-the-world redemption ticket, its SkyTeam alliance partners offer weak business class redemptions, and booking these tickets can be notoriously difficult. Generally, it's best to avoid transferring points to Aeromexico if possible.

Conclusion

Brex is a relatively new player to the world of point transfers. Regardless, it’s crucial to always consider the variety of options available and to always make sure you’re getting some value out of your points.
