ANA Business Class on the Boeing 787

All Nippon Airways (ANA) flies Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft on long-haul routes. If you are planning an award trip, the seat layout matters as much as the route — and Roame can help you track when business class space opens.

Suite vs Square business class layouts

ANA has more than one long-haul business class product. On many wide-body flights, you can tell which layout you are booking by checking the seat map on ANA's website after you have a reservation:

  • If business class only runs to row 20, you are on the newer “The Room” Suite-style layout.
  • If business class runs beyond row 20, you are on the older “Square” layout.

Aircraft type alone does not always tell you which cabin you will get — equipment can swap before departure. That is why award travelers often confirm the seat map after booking, especially on popular routes between Japan and Europe or North America.

Boeing 787 variants on ANA

Roame tracks Boeing 787 family aircraft as 787-8 (788) and 787-9 (789). ANA uses both on international routes, including service linking Tokyo with European hubs such as Frankfurt. Special-liveried 787s have appeared on these routes, but the business class product still comes down to the seat map for your specific flight.
