For romance quotient, you can’t beat the 516sq ft Ridge Suite in the main house with its bottle-green walls, separate lounge area and freestanding bath tub big enough for two in the living room. There’s a king-size four-poster bed with a heavenly Hypnos mattress and luxurious bedding by North Berwick-based Laura Thomas, plus custom-designed wallpaper in heather pinks and inky blues designed by Scottish artists Mairi Helene. The marble-clad ensuite bathroom has twin sinks, a walk-in shower and handmade bath products by Siabann, a Scottish beauty brand based in the Ochil Hills. There are heated floors to keep cosy in the winter months, a TV, free WiFi, tea, Nespresso coffee and free bottled water. The suite can accommodate an extra bed on request for a charge of £50 a person a night.
