The light-flooded 269sq ft Superior Rooms are in the Honeysuckle cottage at the back of the hotel’s garden; each has a private patio with a table and chairs. Inside, there’s a king-size bed (twin beds available on request), with a heavenly Hypnos mattress and luxurious bedding by North Berwick-based Laura Thomas. Each bedroom has custom-designed wallpaper by Scottish artist Mairi Helena that reflects the palette of the East Lothian landscape, and the ensuite marble-clad bathroom has a walk-in shower and handmade bath products by Siabann, a Scottish beauty brand based in the Ochil Hills. There are heated floors to keep cosy in the winter months, a TV, free WiFi, tea, Nespresso coffee and free bottled water. One of the Superior rooms can accommodate an extra bed on request for a charge of £50 a person a night.
