World of Hyatt Business Credit Card Review

By John Ta - August 16, 2024

While the World of Hyatt business card has a strong intro offer, its year to year value is a bit less than that of the personal card. However, spending on this card provides significant value for those chasing Hyatt status.

For businesses with many travelers loyal to Hyatt, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card could be an interesting addition to the collection. However, the card differs in several ways from the personal version of the card and is not necessarily as easy to breakeven with.

In this article, we’ll review what makes this card worthwhile and whether or not you should consider getting it for your business.

Up To $100 In Hyatt Statement Credits

To help offset the annual fee, this card offers up to $100 in Hyatt statement credits. Cardholders must spend $50 or more at any Hyatt property to receive the $50 statement credits up to two times each anniversary year.

Receive & Gift World Of Hyatt Discoverist Status

This is a particularly useful benefit for businesses with several employees seeking Hyatt status benefits. Not only does the primary cardholder get automatic World of Hyatt Discoverist status, but Discoverist status can be gifted to up to five employees.

Discoverist is normally earned with just 10 elite qualifying nights per year. While Discoverist doesn’t offer a lot, some status is better than none.

Earn 5 Elite Qualifying Nights For Every $10,000 You Spend In A Calendar Year

For every cumulative $10,000 the cardholder or authorized user employee spends on this card in a calendar year, the cardholder will earn 5 Elite Qualifying Nights. This means that you could (in theory) get Hyatt Globalist through just $120,000 of spend on this card.

While that is A LOT of spend to be putting on a single credit card, realistically, you would be mixing your time between sleeping in Hyatt hotels and spending on this card to reach the 60 elite nights required for Globalist.

10% Bonus Point Redemption Bonus After Spending $50,000 In A Calendar Year

If you and authorized user employees collectively spend $50,000 USD or more on this card in a calendar year, you will receive 10% points back on up to a total of 200,000 World of Hyatt points you redeem on free night awards, points + cash stays, room upgrades, and more (see terms & conditions here).

What’s particularly interesting is that points are only considered redeemed on the day of checkout or upon completion of the service/experience. This means that stays completed before reaching the $50,000 spend threshold or stays after the end of that same calendar year do not count. For example, if you hit $50,000 in spend on December 2024, you only have that 1 month to get your full 10% rebate of up to 20,000 points back. This limitation makes this benefit a little less forgiving.

Automatic Hyatt Leverage Membership

The cardholder will be enrolled into the Hyatt Leverage Program, which is a free program for small businesses to get discounts on Hyatt hotel stays. Through the Hyatt Leverage program, businesses are eligible for exclusive discounts of up to 15% off the standard rate at all participating Hyatt hotels.

Earn 4x Points For Spending At Hyatt Hotels & Resorts

This business card gives 4x bonus points per $1 spent at Hyatt hotels, beating out many great alternatives like the Chase Sapphire Reserve (3x points per $ on hotels) or the Capital One Venture X (2x points per $ on hotels).

4x is a fantastic multiplier, and stacks ontop of any points you’d earn just by staying at a Hyatt property under an eligible rate. For example, if you spend $100 for your eligible Hyatt reservation as a standard Hyatt member, you’d earn:

  • $100 x 5 base points per eligible $1 USD spent: 500 points
  • $100 x 4 points per $1 spent on the WoH credit card: 400 points
  • Totaling 900 points (or up to 9x Hyatt points per $1)

Hyatt points are extremely valuable, meaning those 900 points can be worth (conservatively) around $15. A 15% return on your stay is not a bad outcome by any means! With higher status tiers like Globalist, you earn even more out of your stay with additional bonus multipliers.

Other Bonused Spending Categories

The World of Hyatt Business card also encourages spend elsewhere by rewarding 2 bonus points per $1 spent in your top three spend categories. Eligible categories are as follows:

  • Dining
  • Shipping
  • Airline tickets when purchased directly with the airline
  • Local transit & Commuting
  • Social Media & Search Engine Advertising
  • Car Rental Agencies
  • Gas stations
  • Internet, Cable & Phone Services

Additionally, in theme with Hyatt’s focus on health and wellbeing, the card also provides 2 bonus points per $1 spent on fitness club and gym memberships.

No Foreign Transaction Fees

Simply put, this card has no foreign transaction fees. It’s an excellent card to use when traveling outside of the United States, whether you use it at Hyatt hotel or not.

Are World Of Hyatt Points Valuable?

Yes, extremely valuable. Hyatt has an award chart as shown below:

There is so much opportunity to get outsized value out of your Hyatt stays. Even Park Hyatts that sometimes run for thousands of dollars a night are attainable with points. For the more value seeking traveler, Hyatt Regencies are oftentimes only 12-21,000 points a night. World of Hyatt has an incredible loyalty program that provides significant value for its loyal customers. Furthermore, award nights count towards elite qualifying nights, making it easier to obtain status.

Conclusion

While the personal World of Hyatt Credit Card is a no brainer, the business counterpart of this card is a bit of a harder sell. I don’t personally find it to deliver as much value as it should for its annual fee, but you may find the faster elite qualifying night gain (5 elite nights/$10,000) from credit card spend more intriguing than that of the personal card.
