Klook is an exciting travel experience booking platform that helps you discover and book activities at incredible prices... and Roame is announcing a unique, limited-time partnership with Klook, offering $20 in credits (terms apply) on a first-come, first-serve basis for our Friends of Roame subscribers!

What Is Klook?

Founded in 2014, Klook is essentially a travel activities/experiences marketplace. The name “Klook” comes from “Keep Looking,” where the company believes that you should “Keep Looking” for the best activities to do while traveling!

On Klook’s website, you can enter your travel destination and then see a wide variety of activities you can do there. You can also see other people’s reviews on the experience so you can see if/how they enjoyed it as well.

One of Klook’s biggest strengths is its user-friendly experience, featuring an intuitive design that simplifies the booking process. Users can browse and book experiences with just a few clicks. The mobile app, available on both Android and iOS, enhances accessibility, allowing users to make reservations while traveling.

For instance, on my recent trip to Phuket, I wanted to find a tour of Phi Phi islands. Using Klook, I searched up just the key words “Phi Phi Islands” and was able to find several tours with clearly displayed ratings and pricing. Transparency is highly valued at Klook, all while ensuring the customer experience is great.
How Do Klook and TripAdvisor Differ?
Primarily known for its travel reviews, TripAdvisor also offers booking options for hotels, restaurants, and travel experiences. While TripAdvisor’s strength lies in its vast user-generated reviews that help travelers make informed decisions, its booking features are generally less specialized than Klook's. TripAdvisor is more about breadth and casting a wide net, which can be overwhelming and irrelevant for users looking for targeted information and bookings.

Klook also has a different inventory of experiences and activities than TripAdvisor, and you may also realize that Klook experiences are generally cheaper than those listed on TripAdvisor. Klook also excels in Asia, where TripAdvisor does just ok in (again, Klook can excel in certain regions more than others).

For instance, back my Phuket example, I also did the same cruise search on TripAdvisor:

You will immediately notice some differences; these results are neither as popular nor as curated as Klook’s. Klook’s page immediately featured a little blurb on Phi Phi Island, a super popular tourist destination, with many options with thousands of reviews. TripAdvisor’s results definitely don’t look as nice—just looks more “generic” as well.

How Do Klook and Viator Differ?
A subsidiary of TripAdvisor, Viator is more directly comparable to Klook as it specializes in tours and activities. Viator’s platform also offers a wide range of experiences, backed by TripAdvisor’s strong review system.
Notably, Viator has an older interface which can sometimes feel less intuitive and clunky. This is very apparent when comparing against Klook, which has a more modern interface and streamlined booking process.

Furthermore, Klook often has exclusive deals with providers and may offer better pricing, particularly in Asia. It also runs frequent promotions which can help reduce trip costs. Viator, being under the TripAdvisor umbrella, benefits from the reliability and trust associated with the TripAdvisor brand, but its pricing is generally less flexible, and promotions are not as frequent or significant.

Continuing my Phuket example, I also did a Phi Phi Islands search on Viator:
You can immediately notice how this differs from even TripAdvisor, with Phi Phi Islands appearing slightly more curated this time around. However, you can also see that the pricing of the tours is already much more expensive than the 4 Klook options above (all below $50 USD). Klook really shines in helping savvy travelers save a bit of money while finding high value tours, especially in Asia.
