The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card recently restructured its welcome offer, and they actually made it easier to hit the bonus:

Earn $350 when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first three months and an additional $400 when you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first six months after account opening.

This change is quite welcome, as it spreads out the spend requirement for this particular Ink card and lowers the barrier to entry for the awesome Ink portfolio.

The New Welcome Offer: Earn Up To $750

I don't think I've ever seen a tiered-stepwise sign-up offer for the Ink Business Cash card. New cardholders are eligible to earn up to a total of $750 if they hit both spending thresholds. In times past, it was always spend $X in Y months and get Z bonus points, where Y was typically 3 months.

This new welcome offer structure not only gives users a longer window to hit the bonus thresholds, but also encourages them to keep the card top of wallet for a longer period of time. I'm curious to see if other Chase cards will start incorporating this structure to their welcome offers.

Get A 10% Bonus On All Cashback Earned During The First Card Anniversary

If you have the Ink Business Cash card and a Chase Business Checking account, you can get a 10% bonus on all cashback you've earned on the first card anniversary. On a net basis, this is essentially equivalent to earning 0.1x more points per purchase.

Realistically, this bonus doesn't really move the needle too much for me, but is definitely not something I'm frowning at!

NOTE: This 10% bonus is not eligible on the initial welcome offer

Earn Up To 5% Cashback

This card is known to be a favorite amongst credit card enthusiasts because of its spending categories:

  • 5% cashback on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services each account anniversary year
  • 2% cashback on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at gas stations and restaurants each account anniversary year
  • 1% cashback on all other card purchases with no limit to the amount you can earn

5% cashback on purchases at office supply stores (up to first $25k across combined categories) is incredible because you can buy gift cards at Staples and still get 5% back. Notably, that cashback can also be converted to points, meaning you are getting more than just 5% back on these purchases.

Generous 0% Intro APR

The card is also offering 0% intro APR for 12 months from account opening on purchases. After that initial introductory period, the APR goes to 17.49%–23.49%, variable.

This introductory APR can be extremely useful for business owners needing to make expenses that they want to float for a short period.

Even More: Earn 5% Cashback On Lyft Rides Through March 2025

There’s one more (good) earning benefit: cardholders earn a total of 5% cashback on Lyft rides for rides purchased with their Chase Ink Cash card.

Notably, this cashback earned is also accrued as Ultimate Rewards points and can be transferred to travel partners to maximize their value with the right premium Chase card.

Wait, Does This Card ONLY Earn Cashback?

Just to be clear: while this card is marketed as earning cashback, your points are actually accrued as Ultimate Rewards points. This means that you can unlock even further value from your points with an active premium Chase card (e.g. the Chase Sapphire Reserve®).

If you only have this card in your Chase portfolio, you will only be able to redeem your points at 1 cent per point. However, with a premium Chase card, you can start transferring the points to travel partners, which can be crucial to getting outsized value out of your points.

Other Pros & Cons of the Chase Ink Business Cash

Although this card is generally a strong card, it’s worth highlighting some of the pros/cons. Most notably, there is a 3% foreign transaction fee, which makes this card not a great option to use abroad.

Pros

Cons

  • Purchase Protection: Cover your new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft up to $500 per claim and $50,000 per account
  • Extended warranty protection: Extend the time period of the U.S. manufacturer's warranty by an additional year, on eligible warranties of three years or less
  • Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver: Decline the rental company's collision insurance and charge the entire rental cost to your card. Coverage is primary when renting for business purposes and provides reimbursement up to the actual cash value of the vehicle for theft and collision damage for most cars in the U.S. and abroad.
  • Travel and Emergency Assistance Services: If you run into a problem away from home, call the Benefit Administrator for legal and medical referrals or other travel and emergency assistance
  • Roadside Dispatch: If you have a roadside emergency, call 1-800-847-2869 anytime to dispatch the help you need – anything from a tow or jumpstart to a tire change, lockout service, winching or gas delivery. Roadside service fees will be provided when you call and will be billed to your card.
  • 3% foreign transaction fees
  • No bonus categorical earnings on groceries
  • Unlike the Chase Freedom Unlimited, no bonus categorical earnings on restaurants or drugstores

Quick Comparisons: Chase Ink Unlimited vs Ink Cash

Both cards are no annual fee Chase business cards with strong reputations. Despite their similarities, they mainly differ in how they earn points:

  • Ink Unlimited: 1.5% cashback on everything
  • Ink Cash: Earn 5% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services each account anniversary year + earn 2% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at gas stations and restaurants each account anniversary year

To put it simply, the Ink Unlimited is really good for business owners with a lot of noncategorical spend, whereas the Ink Cash is really good for those with a lot of spend in those specific categories. There is a strong argument to be made to having both cards, and this is something I do myself!

Additionally, the Ink Business Cash has a welcome offer that is more spaced out across 6 months, while the Unlimited has a shorter time frame of 3 months for the same spend requirement.

Conclusion

The Business Cash is an awesome card with a lot of earning potential. Chase only made the welcome offer easier to hit, making this card even more promising than before. For a no annual fee card, you can squeeze a lot of value out of this card and make the most of your spend at office supply stores.
