I was struggling to find the Thai Airways Royal Silk lounge, so I stumbled upon this Priority Pass lounge instead. For many Roame users with premium travel cards, this is a great lounge to use your Priority Pass card on.
How I Accessed The Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon Lounge
This lounge can be accessed using Priority Pass Select, which is a lounge pass offered by many premium travel credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.
When I entered the front desk, the agent asked for my Priority Pass card and me + guest’s boarding passes. However, for some reason, the swipe wasn’t working, so she asked me for my app’s QR code. After scanning and typing some things, the agent asked for me to sign the scanner, after which we were ablt to get in smoothly.
How To Get Priority Pass Lounge Access
Priority Pass is a lounge pass offered by several major credit cards. It is a widely accessible perk; once you have it once, you don't really need to get it again. You can typically bring up to 2 guests with you free when visiting Priority Pass lounges, but this can definitely vary from lounge to lounge.
Here are some of our favorite credit cards that offer Priority Pass:
The Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon Lounge: Small, But Comfortable And Beautiful
Although this is a Priority Pass lounge, I was taken aback by it. It was definitely on the smaller side, but the entire lounge was well decorated. The five of us scurried to the back area of the lounge, which was a very well designed area with many small, cute tables and chairs.
After checking in, we received little WiFi slips with the access code. It was clear this was a lounge intended for premium Bangkok Airways members with the entry criteria immediate to our right.
The Food: Made To Order AND Delicious?!
Everything looked great all around, with a coffee machine and snack station nearby. It was here where I discovered something awesome: the lounge had free made to order food (& it looked really tasty).
To place an order, someone would open the little door in the food area and the food would be prepared right then. Some of us were hungry, so we ordered shrimp shumai, grilled duck with roasted noodle, and instant noodles (one of my friends really wanted it for some reason).
To my surprise, the food actually turned out to be quite delicious. The shumai was really good, and I think my friends were also pretty pleased with what they got. Overall, an excellent meal with great service—the food came out quickly and the lounge team quickly cleaned things up as we finished eating.
If I wasn’t in such a rush, I would have definitely ordered more food, as it all looked quite yummy.
My Overall Rating Of The Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon Lounge: A Surprising 7/10
I rate lounges based on a few general criteria:
- Food Quality & Variety: 8/10
- Cleanliness: 10/10
- Interior Design: 7/10
- Unique Amenities: 3/10
I am still slightly shocked this is a Priority Pass lounge. The made to eat food options are diverse, delicious, and presentable. Design-wise and cleanliness-wise, this is an impressive lounge—things were generally spotless all around with an excellent ambiance. However, even if we count the a la carte food items as an amenity, things were generally lacking otherwise. Furthermore, there was no bathroom immediately in the lounge.
Conclusion
The Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon lounge is a hidden gem nested away in Phuket’s domestic departures terminal. With a fantastic a la carte menu and well-decorated interior, it is definitely a lounge worth visiting if you’re ever around.
