Who the Ink Business Unlimited is best for

This card is strongest for small-business owners, freelancers, and side-hustle operators who want a no-annual-fee card for expenses that do not fall into bonus categories. The flat 1.5% earning rate keeps it simple for software, supplies, advertising, taxes, inventory, and miscellaneous business spend.

If your business has large travel or advertising categories, compare it with the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. If your spend lines up with office supply stores, internet, cable, or phone services, also compare the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card. For the broader Roame view, see our guide to Chase Ink business cards.

How rewards work for travel

Although the card is marketed as cash back, the rewards accrue as Chase Ultimate Rewards® points. By itself, the Ink Business Unlimited lets you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards for cash back, gift cards, travel, and more.

For airline and hotel transfers, the key caveat is pairing: you generally need an eligible Chase card that unlocks transfers, such as an Ink Business Preferred or Sapphire card, before moving points to travel partners. That makes the Ink Business Unlimited especially useful as a no-fee earning card in a larger Chase setup. Start with our Chase transfer partners guide if your goal is award travel.

Fees, APR, and protections to know

  • The $0 annual fee makes it easy to keep long term, but purchases outside the U.S. can be costly because the card has a 3% foreign transaction fee.
  • The 0% intro APR on purchases can help with short-term business cash flow, but you should plan around the variable APR that applies after the intro period.
  • Chase lists employee cards at no additional cost, with individual spending limits for control and faster rewards earning.
  • Purchase protection covers eligible new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft, up to $10,000 per item, and extended warranty protection can add one year to eligible U.S. manufacturer warranties of three years or less.
  • For business rentals, Chase lists primary auto rental coverage with reimbursement up to $60,000 for theft and collision damage for most eligible vehicles.

Partner benefits and current extras

Chase currently lists 5% total cash back on Lyft rides through September 30, 2027. Chase also lists a complimentary three-month Instacart+ membership after enrollment, plus a $20 Instacart credit each month loaded to an Instacart Business Account once activated; those Instacart benefits end December 31, 2027.

Eligibility and application notes

Chase says the new-cardmember bonus may not be available if you have ever had this card or any other Chase for Business card without an annual fee, and Chase may consider business-specific factors when deciding bonus eligibility.

You do not necessarily need a large company to consider a business card. CNBC notes that side hustles and freelance work may qualify, and sole proprietors can typically use a Social Security number as the business tax ID. You should also consider Chase's unofficial 5/24 approval pattern before applying.
