Where is the Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK?

The lounge is airside in Terminal 4, near Gate A2. After security, turn left and continue on the same level. Priority Pass lists the walk as roughly three minutes after security, and Chase lists the lounge near Gate A2.

This matters because JFK terminals are not all connected airside. If you are flying from another terminal, budget time for terminal transfers and security. On our visit, we checked out the lounge while flying American from Terminal 8, and even the lounge agent flagged that we were not departing from Terminal 4.

Who can access the Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK?

Full complimentary access is for eligible Chase cardmembers with the right lounge benefit: Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business primary cardmembers, J.P. Morgan Reserve, and Ritz-Carlton Credit Card cardmembers. Chase says eligible cardmembers can bring up to two guests for no charge, with additional guests charged by the lounge.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred does not include Chase Sapphire Lounge access. If you are comparing cards, read Roame's Chase Sapphire Reserve review and the Chase Sapphire Reserve card page before deciding whether lounge access is worth the annual fee for you.

Priority Pass access without an eligible Chase card

The lounge is listed in Priority Pass, but it does not work like an ordinary unlimited Priority Pass lounge. Priority Pass says non-Chase members can use one inclusive or pay-as-you-go visit entitlement at one US Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club location once per calendar year, subject to availability. Guest visits and additional visits are $75, payable to the lounge.

Priority Pass also lists restricted access for non-Chase members from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM daily, and says Chase cardmembers may be prioritized during peak periods. Bring your Priority Pass digital or physical membership card and a valid departing boarding pass; do not assume the credit card that issued your Priority Pass membership is enough on its own.

Check-in and waitlist experience

When we arrived, there was already a wait. The attendant took our phone number and texted when space opened up. Our wait cleared in about 13 minutes, but the safer assumption at JFK is that peak international departure windows can mean a waitlist.

The upside of the waitlist is that the room feels controlled once you are inside. Staff assign seats, which also helps the made-to-order QR code food system deliver orders to the correct place.

Food, drinks, and amenities inside

Food is the biggest reason to prioritize this lounge. On our visit, the buffet included small plates such as chicken tagine, braised beef, paprika potatoes, apricot burrata, and fresh fruit. The lounge also had an all-day made-to-order menu through a QR code at each seat; we ordered the Sapphire burger and an IPA, and both arrived quickly at the bar.

The design is sleek and modern, with black, brown, and white finishes that make the buffet and bar areas feel more polished than a typical contract lounge. Because this space used to be the Etihad Lounge, some inherited features remain, including reflection rooms. Priority Pass also lists shower facilities as bookable inside the lounge.

Chase Sapphire Lounge vs. Amex Centurion Lounge at JFK

The Chase Sapphire Lounge and the American Express Centurion Lounge are neighbors in Terminal 4, so travelers with both cards may want to try Chase first and use Centurion as a backup if there is a wait. Chase has the stronger guest policy for eligible Sapphire Reserve cardmembers, while Centurion may be more familiar to Amex Platinum cardholders.

If you are already in Terminal 8 instead, compare this with Roame's reviews of the Greenwich Lounge JFK and Soho Lounge JFK before deciding whether a Terminal 4 detour is worth it.

Roame rating: 8/10

We rate the Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK an 8/10. Food quality and variety, cleanliness, interior design, and access value are all strong. The main tradeoff is that the lounge can require a wait and does not have as many standout amenities as some first-class airline lounges. Still, for an eligible cardholder flying from Terminal 4, this is one of JFK's best pre-flight stops.
